Practice
Practice runs outside the scored schedule — it's how drivers get track time before qualifying. Sensible Laps supports two styles, and both are flagged as practice so they never affect event results.
Open practice
A rolling, unscored session. Cars go out whenever they like and their laps appear on a flat live board — there are no rounds and no standings. Any transponder seen during the session is picked up automatically and added to All Contestants (shown in yellow) so names and phonetic pronunciations can be set once and reused.
This is the default "just practice" option on the Main View, and the mode a new event drops into right after the wizard finishes.
Controlled practice
A scheduled practice with rounds and standings — structured like an event's qualifying, but marked as practice. Use it when you want fair, timed practice rounds (for example a paid, rotating practice day) rather than an open free-for-all.
