Events
An event is the top-level container for a race meeting — a club night, a regional round, a full weekend. Everything else lives inside it: the divisions (classes) that are running, their schedule of qualifying and finals, the entries, the results and the fees.
You'll normally create an event with the Event Wizard, which assembles all of this from a template and a few answers. This section explains the two decisions that shape how an event behaves:
- Event Structure — how an event is organised into divisions, rounds and races, and how those pieces relate.
- Event Mode — whether the event runs in basic mode (quick to set up, sensible defaults) or advanced mode (full control over qualifying format, finals and scheduling).
Practice events
Not every event is a scored meeting. Sensible Laps also supports open practice (a rolling, unscored board) and controlled practice (scheduled practice rounds with standings). Both are configured as an event — see Event Mode for how practice differs from a normal meeting.
